Maharashtra ranks first in the list of states with highest vehicle registrations during FY 2021

India's automobile sector has been facing an unparalleled slowdown since FY2020 owing to the pandemic and with the ongoing second wave, the industry has already started to show signs of turmoil.

According to the latest data released by Automotive analytics provider, Jato Dynamics India, Maharashtra has topped the list for the most vehicle registrations in April 2021. As per the data secured from the transport department's online portal 2,82,330 vehicles were listed in Maharashtra between April 2020 and May 2021. The listings of new vehicles in the state has slumped by 6 per cent compared to FY2020. 

During FY 2021 a total of 1,81,143 vehicles were registered in the state. Uttar Pradesh ranked at second spot following Maharashtra that saw an 11 per cent drop in new listings at 2,59,510 units. The third spot was seized by the state of Gujarat at 2,25,557 units. Kerala observed  15 per cent decline at 1,63,186 units followed by Tamil Nadu, which observed 1,56,844 registrations and a decline of 14 per cent.

According to carandbike.com, Delhi, Rajasthan and Haryana observed a 13 per cent drop in vehicle registrations at 1,27,936 vehicles, 1,35,172 vehicles and 1,45,646 units, respectively.
