Tata Motors has launched its brand new SUV, Tata Punch, for this festive season. Punch is the second car designed with ALFA-ARC (Agile Light Flexible Advanced Architecture). The first in the line was Altroz. The company had displayed the H2X concept at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show and HBX concept at the 2020 auto expo show. The new mini SUV is the production version of these two.

Tata Punch is developed based on Impact 2.0 design. There were several speculations about the name of the car before the launch. The official Twitter handle cleared all the doubts by Tweeting, "H2X, HBX, Hornbill - Yes, we know you have been guessing, but we have a surprise for you! Introducing The All-New TATA PUNCH! Built on the ALFA-ARC platform, It’s truly an SUV meant for all! Know more - https://bit.ly/TataPUNCH #TATAPUNCH #TataMotors".

The company has not revealed technical details about the car. It is said to come with a 1.2-liter Revotron petrol engine with manual and AMT unit. Punch will have a split headlamp cluster like Harrier and, the design will be its selling point. It will compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Mahindra KUV NXT, and Renault Kwid. Punch has the opportunity to lead the market as Hyundai Casper falls in the same category and might launch next year.

The car might have premium features like a digital instrument cluster, cruise control, iRA connectivity tech, a sizeable touchscreen infotainment system, and a push-button start/stop. The expected base price of Tata Punch is Rs. 5 lakh and, an ex-showroom price may go up to Rs. 7.5 lakh.
