Ace online food delivery platform Swiggy has introduced a menstrual period time-off policy for their female delivery partners.

On Thursday, Mihir Shah, Vice President of operations at Swiggy said in a blog post that discomfort from being out and about on the road while menstruating is probably one of the most underreported reasons why many women don't consider delivery to be a viable gig. To support women delivery partners through menstruation-related challenges, they introduced a no-questions-asked, two-day paid monthly period time-off policy for all our regular female delivery partners. Women delivery partners can take two days of paid off every month.

For those uninitiated, Swiggy onboarded its first female delivery partner in 2016 and since then the number kept on increasing.

Apart from the period time-off policy, the company is also planning to rent  EV cycles and bikes on rent to help women with transportation.

24% of the women delivery partners at Swiggy are earning an income for the first time in their lives.
