The well-known fashion e-commerce company Myntra has successfully delivered 100 percent plastic-free packaging in its entire supply chain. The fashion brand has held fast to the commitment since August 2019. The sellers of Myntra have adopted green packaging defined by the brand.

The plastic cello tapes, poly covers and bubble wraps are now substituted with paper tapes, shredded materials, paper covers and boxes. Kraft paper pouch is used at the place of Polybags for attaching invoices. The RFID-tagged multi-use polyester bags are used for reverse shipments as packaging materials. A unique QR code is also been implemented for each bag to prevent any use of plastic packaging.

It is a remarkable result for this milestone as the attempts initiated by Myntra towards lining up and assisting its seller partners with a development path to slowly adopt sustainable and environment-friendly packaging alternatives. The company has diverted 670 tonnes of plastic in September 2021. The brand is equipped with the right technology and adequate infrastructure which includes machine customisation for achieving the aim of sustainable packaging.

Myntra has tied up with the Better Cotton Initiative which is the most extensive cotton sustainability programme worldwide. The initiative aims to make cotton farming sustainable. The fashion brand has also announced two largest fulfilment centres for enabling solar power.
