IRCTC to launch its first-ever Indian luxury cruise liner on 18 September: here you all need to know

All the Indians who wished to sail on a cruise in India, here is a piece of good news for them. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has joined hands with Cordelia Cruises to launch India's first-ever indigenous luxurious cruise liner and to market and promote the same. The first cruise will start its sail on 18 September. One can visit the official website of IRCTC for booking the tickets.

In a statement, IRCTC mentioned that the premium cruise liner Cordelia Cruises aspire to promote and drive cruising culture in India through experiences of style, luxury, and inherently Indian. The cruise will sail to several Indian and international locations including, Diu, Goa, Lakshadweep, Kochi, and in Sri Lanka the cruise will go to Colombo, Galle, Trincomalee, and Jaffna.

In the first phase, the cruise's base port will be Mumbai, and later on, from May 2022, the base will change to Chennai. The famous tour itineraries of Cordelia Cruises are Mumbai-Goa-Mumbai, Mumbai-Diu-Mumbai, Mumbai-At Sea-Mumbai, Mumbai-At Sea-Lakshadweep-At Sea-Mumbai, and Kochi-Lakshadweep-Mumbai. 

On the cruise, one can enjoy various recreational and leisure activities, such as bars, restaurants, swimming pools, open cinema, theatre, and kids' area. According to the COVID-19 protocol, the cruise has fully vaccinated crew members. They also have a medical centre that is fully functional equipped with required essential medical items. Following the government-mandated COVID-19 norms, the staff will do hourly sanitisation, air filtration while maintaining social distancing.
