UNWTO selects Telangana's Pochampally as the best tourism village in the world

Telangana is known for its hospitality and multicultural and pluralistic society. The state has many tourist attractions which include Charminar, Golconda Fort, Ramoji Film City, Salar Jung Museum, Hussain Sagar Lake and many more. Now there is also another addition to the state's tourist place which is nominated as the best tourism village in the world by United Nations World Tourism Organisation. Telangana's Pochampally village has been selected as the best tourism village. 

Pochampally is an artisanal village known for its Ikat weaves and textures. The village is nestled 50 kilometres away from Hyderabad. Tourists from all over the country come to the village to see the weavers at work with handlooms and play with colours. 

After receiving the news of the nomination of the village, Union Culture Minister G. Kishan Reddy tweeted, "A journey to the Telangana's major handloom cluster that will unfold facinating tales of craftmanship.. #Pochampally in #Telangana selected as one of the 'Best Tourism Villages' by @UNWTO. Recently, the Ramappa Temple received the UNESCO heritage tag and now with the Best Tourism Village Award for Pochampally will significantly boost tourism in Telangana. The UNWTO is a world body promoting sustainable and universally accessible tourism.
