Sony Pictures Networks obtains broadcast rights for Lanka Premier League

All the matches of Lanka Premier League will be telecast live on the SONY SIX and SONY TEN 2 channels. It will be live-streamed on its on-demand OTT platform SonyLIV.

Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) made came back as a broadcast partner for the second season of the Lanka Premier League (LPL). The broadcasting network has signed an agreement with the official franchise and broadcast holder of LPL, the IPG Group. The agreement includes the television and digital transmission of the LPL, which will be played between 5 December and 23 December. 

All the matches of Lanka Premier League will be telecast live on the SONY SIX and SONY TEN 2 channels. It will be live-streamed on its on-demand OTT platform SonyLIV. The premier league will be having a host of cricketing stars such as Chris Gayle, Irfan Pathan, Shahid Afridi and Faf du Plessis in action. 

Lanka Premier League will also see Sri Lanka T20 stars which include Charith Asalanka and Wanindi Hasaranga. Asalanka had scored 231 runs in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, whereas Hasaranga had taken 16 wickets in the tournament. 

The inaugural edition of LPL was played in a bio-secure bubble at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota from 26 November 2020 till 16 December 2020. It got a cumulative audience of 557 million people via TV, digital-social space, and traditional media outlets. With the broadcasting rights of LPL Sony Pictures Network aims to bring the best of international cricketing to the fans in India.
