Star India acquires the media rights of Cricket South Africa till 2024

The agreement allows Star India to have exclusive rights across direct and digital mediums including all India tours to South Africa in this period. The association will begin with England’s tour to South Africa scheduled to start from 27th of November 2020.

Star India has obtained the media rights of Cricket South Africa (CSA) till the end of the 2023-24 cricket season in Asia, Middle East and North Africa territories. The agreement allows Star India to have exclusive rights across direct and digital mediums including all India tours to South Africa during this period. The association will begin with England’s tour to South Africa scheduled to start from 27th of November 2020.

The leading media house already has the global rights for ICC, BCCI cricket, Indian Premier League (IPL) apart from other cricket rights. In an official statement Sanjog Gupta, CEO – Sports, Star India mentioned that they are delighted to collaborate with Cricket South Africa. This alliance fortifies our commitment to cricket and their belief in the significance of sport in Star India's consumer proposition. South Africa has some of the most highly recalled Cricketers and competitive teams, which pride themselves in taking on the best from around the world. They look forward to hosting the best of South African cricket till 2024.

The partnership will start with England tour of South Africa on 27 November 2020. The three T20Is will broadcast in Hindi for the very first time.


The contract will cover all international cricket matches played by the South African men’s team. Reportedly, SA will be playing 59 matches at home including series against India, England and Australia

Meanwhile, the Indian cricket team has been scheduled for South Africa tour thrice during this period, the deal comprises of 20 South Africa vs India matches across formats. It also includes the forthcoming 2021-22 series which comprises of three Tests and three T20Is. The agreement also covers women’s international cricket matches played by the Momentum Protea and domestic men’s franchise matches too.
