Euro 2020: Italy enters final by defeating Spain on Penalties

Italy gave a tough fight against Spain by soaking up all the pressure and defending resolutely, Spain's lack of finesse in the final third costing them a place in the final tournament.

Italy makes it to the finals of the 2020 European Football Championship. Italy defeated three-time champion Spain in the semi-finals at Wembley Stadium in London. 

Gianluigi Donnarumma, the goalkeeper of Italy, saved the penalty kick from Alvaro Morata, which led the team to the victory. Jorginho made the decisive penalty kick to give Italy a 4-2 shootout win.

The match finished on 1-1 through extra time. A curling shot of Federico Chiesa on the 60th minute came against the run of play as Spain was ahead of Italy. 

At halftime, both Italy and Spain score locked at 0-0 to create clear-cut chances. Spain forward Dani Olmo almost scored with his close-range shot, but Italy goalkeeper Donnarumma saved the goal. The attempt by Ferran Torres from outside the area went wide near the post gave La Roja another good chance to score.
