India Vs Australia: Virat Kohli becomes second-fastest joint batsman to score 2000 ODI runs

During the second ODI of India Vs Australia, Indian skipper Virat Kohli scored his 102nd fifty-plus, first at the Sydney Cricket Ground and garnered 2000 ODI runs against Australia. He equalled his idol Sachin Tendulkar to become the joint second-fastest batsman. Both Virat and Sachin scored the achievement in their 40th innings in the format against Australia. 

India opening batsman Rohit Sharma who is not a part of the series because of his hamstring injury is still standing at the top having amassed 2000 runs against Australia in 37th innings.

Kohli stands joint third on the list of fastest to 2000 ODI runs against a single opposition. He has set a record against West Indies in just 34 innings. 

The Indian skipper fell just 11 runs short of ending a year-long wait for an international hundred. He made 89 runs in India's chase of 390 in the 2nd ODI

Virat also became the fastest cricketer to achieve to 22,000 international runs. The ace Indian batsman has garnered 22,011 runs in international cricket in 418 matches. He is the 3rd batsman after Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid to achieve the landmark. The Indian captain is also the 8th batsman to attain the milestone in international cricket.
