Former India skipper and National Cricket Academy (NCA) head Rahul Dravid has been named to coach team India that will be playing a six-game series against Sri Lanka in July. This will be Rahul's second stint with the team after the 2014's England tour. He was batting consultant during the tour.

A BCCI official confirmed the development that Dravid would be heading the team as Ravi Shastri, Bharat Arun and Vikram Rathour will be in England with the Test team. The official quoted to ANI that the Team India coaching staff will be in the UK and it will be best if the young team will be guided by Dravid as he has already worked with almost all of the India 'A' boys.

The former cricketer has worked closely with the boys in the Indian team at the U-19 level and also in the India 'A' team. Over the last couple of years, he played an essential role in building a firm bench for the national team. Dravid took the charge of the U-19 and 'A' team in 2015. The Indian team for the Sri Lanka series is expected to be selected at the end of May. The squad will undergo quarantine in the foreign country before playing the 3 ODI and 3 T20Is.

The 3ODIs will be played on July 13, 16, 19 and the T20Is are expected to be played from July 22-27.
