Ramkumar Ramanathan, the Indian tennis player, has won his maiden challenger level singles title 12 years after turning pro. He outplayed Evgeny Karlovskiy at ATP80 Manama's summit clash event.

The 27-year-old Ramakumar has previously lost six challenger finals in his career. He defeated his rival by 6-1, 6-4 in just 68 minutes. As the Russian's backhand sailed over the baseline, Ramkumar, who is seeded sixth and ranked 222 in the world sealed the first set. He scored the important point after he saved a breakpoint against the world's 302 Karlovskiy. It was the only instance where he faced the breakpoint in the game. Ramkumar served well in the game and his net game was too sharp.

Ramkumar is likely to be ranked as 186 on the world chart and, he will surpass Prajnesh Gunneswaran (215) and Sumit Nagal (219) when the chart would be updated.
