The off-spinner is only the fourth Indian bowler to take more than 400 wickets in Test cricket.
Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin broke various records on Monday during the first Test against New Zealand held in Kanpur.
By taking the first wicket on day five, he went past Harbhajan Singh's total of 417 wickets in Test cricket and became India's third most successful bowler. Ashwin broke Harbhajan's record by taking a big wicket of New Zealand in the form of Tom Latham. He is only lagging behind two Indian bowlers with the most Test wickets, Kapil Dev (434) and Anil Kumble (619).
On the other hand, Ashwin went past Bishan Singh Bedi's record for taking the most number of wickets against New Zealand in Test cricket as he picked up the second wicket of the day of Tom Blundell. It was Ashwin's 58th wicket against New Zealand and he broke Bedi's record of 57 wickets.
The off-spinner is only the fourth Indian bowler to take more than 400 wickets in Test cricket. With that, he also became the 13th highest wicket-taker of all time.
