During the virtual ‘Gift of Life’ event, the former Indian batsman said that when he was very young, he wanted to become a cricketer and going ahead wanted to play for the country. He had two heroes - one is Sunil Gavaskar, who played for India for several years and performed well, he was his batting hero. Along with him, it was Viv Richards of the West Indies. These were SRT's batting heroes when he played cricket.
Furthermore, Tendulkar went to mention that outside of cricket his father Ramesh Tendulkar was his biggest inspiration. The former Indian cricketer averred that in life, his hero was his father. So much time that he spent with him and he was mild, calm and composed, he was a man with good nature. So, it is his dream that he would become like him.
Sachin had attended ‘Gift of Life’ ceremony virtually after 1,000 children underwent free heart surgeries performed by the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital since the COVID-19 pandemic began in the country. The former Indian cricketer lauded the work done by the hospital team and mentioned by doing this noble work, you are not just giving our children the opportunity to lead a healthy life, you are also giving them an opportunity to dream big and chase their dreams.
