Sourav Ganguly recounted various incidents from his cricket career and life including his debut in 1992 and playing alongside veteran cricketers like Tendulkar, Dravid, Harbhajan Singh and many more.
Sourav Ganguly, former Indian cricket team captain and BCCI president recently opened up about how failures make successful leaders. How one should see failure as a stepping stone to success.
During a live session of Classplus, an online platform for educators and coaching institutes the celebrated cricketer shared his experiences and life lessons with participants on how to stay motivated and continue chasing one's goals relentlessly despite short-term failure.
He recounted various incidents from his cricket career and life including his debut in 1992 and playing alongside veteran cricketers like Tendulkar, Dravid, Harbhajan Singh and many more. Through these incidents, he threw light on the challenges he has faced during his journey so far. He shared how he kept himself focused on his dreams instead of letting challenges throw him off track and how that helped him succeed at every stage in life. He also talked about the importance of self-confidence, perseverance, and discipline.
Sharing some of his life lessons Sourav said that one realises their true potential only when their chips are down and nobody believes in them. He also added that in a team, we should take everyone’s opinion into account to do well. Talking about fear of failure, he said failure is a part of everybody’s life. There’s not one successful person in the world who has not tasted failure.
When asked about how to deal with performance pressure and fear of failure, Sourav replied, “Pressure is a part and parcel of every profession. The sooner you embrace pressure and nervousness, the better you’ll become at dealing with it. Having said that, no two people have the same way of dealing with pressure, Master Blaster Tendulkar listened to music on his headphones to calm himself down while I avoided going out of my hotel room before an important match.”
