Tokyo Olympics 2020: Indian men's hockey moves on the 2nd place of Group A, defeating Japan by 5-3

The Indian hockey team is in the quarterfinals with this win, it is the third consecutive in the Tokyo Olympics.

Indian men's hockey team made their way to 2nd place in Group A, defeating Japan by 5-3. The Indian hockey team is in the quarterfinals with this win. Australia is leading on the Group A table with a score of 13 points in 5 matches.

The win against Japan is India's third consecutive in the Tokyo Olympics. Gurjant Singh, in the first quarter with a penalty corner, gave a 1-0 lead to the team. However, in the second quarter of the match, the coordination of Simranjeet Singh and Gurjant Singh made another goal for India leading 2-0. In the third quarter, Tanaka made a goal for Japan and opened the team's account. 

The scoreboard was level up with Kota Watanabe's goal, but soon Shamsher Singh put India on the top after netting in the 34th minute with a leading score of 3-2. Both the teams were giving their best to gain a point in the Group A table. Soon, Gurjan again scored and made score 5-2 for India. Japan, though made a comeback in the end as Kazuma Murata made a goal in less than a minute, but it was not all to win for Japan's men hockey team. They lose the match by a 5-3 score in their 5 group stage match.
