Atanu Das and Deepika Kumari qualify for pre-quarterfinals kept the hope alive for India for a medal at Tokyo Olympics.
Indian Archer Atanu Das qualifies for pre-quarterfinals by defeating Korea's former Olympic champion Oh Jin Hyek by hitting the bull's eye in a one-arrow shoot-off. It was one of the greatest wins for the Indian archer. Atanu has shown amazing resilience as he came back from losing the first set to tie the next two. Finally, the 29-year-old forced a decider shot with a perfect 10, which lead him to victory.

Also, India's female star archer Deepika Kumari clinched the pre-quarterfinals by defeating US teenager Mucino Fernandez by 6-4 in the women's section. She has kept the hope alive for India for a medal at Tokyo Olympics. Apart from Deepika Kumari, her husband is also another Indian left in the fray.

The archery couple Atanu Das and Deepika Kumari are together since 2008. Both were batchmates at the Tata Academy in Jamshedpur. The husband-wife duo participated in the 2016 Olympics. They are the second married Indian couple after Vece Paes and his wife in 1972 to compete at the Olympics together.
