Tokyo Olympics: Punjab government honours Indian hockey players by renaming 10 schools after Manpreet & Co
The government of Punjab names ten schools after the Indian Men's Hockey players by honouring their win at Tokyo Olympics.
The Punjab government honour the Indian men's hockey team in the best way possible. The government names ten schools after the Hockey players. Manpreet Singh led the team to win the bronze medal in Tokyo Olympics 2020. The Indian men's hockey team bagged the medal after 41 years in Olympics. Most of the players in the hockey team hailed from Punjab. Reportedly, Vijay Inder Singla, School Education Minister, said that Punjab Chief Miniter Amarinder Singh approved the decision to honour the hockey team for their win in Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Further, Singla said that the Government Senior Secondary School in Mithapur, Jalandhar, is renamed after captain Manpreet Singh as Olympian Manpreet Singh Government Senior Secondary School. Other schools renamed after the players are now known as follows:
● Timmoval - Olympian Harmanpreet Singh GSSS.
● Attari - Olympian Shamsher Singh GSSS.
● Faridkot - Olympian Rupinderpal Singh Government Middle School.
● Khusropur, Jalandhar - Olympian Hardik Singh GSSS.
● Khalaihara, Amritsar - Olympian Gurjant Singh GSSS.
● Gurdaspur - Olympian Simranjit Singh Government High School Chahal Kalan.
The government of Punjab had promised to give one crore to the athletes. Because of their success, the government had to restructure the reward. Earlier, Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, Sports and Youth Service minister of Punjab, said that each hockey player would get Rs. 2.51 crores.
