Tokyo Paralympics 2020: Para-Badminton player Pramod Bhagat makes his way to the semi-finals

Earlier, in the group stage match, Bhagat was up against his Indian compatriot Manoj Sarkar. Bhagat ruled the first match, Sarkar fought back in the second match, but ultimately the game was taken away by Parmod Bhagat.

Indian para-badminton player and Asian and World Champion Pramod Bhagat advances to the final of SL3 badminton Tokyo Paralympics 2020. To reach the finals, Bhagat defeated Ukraine's Oleksandr Chyrkov in the semi-final with 21-12, 21-9. Bhagat was dominating throughout the game. In the first match, his five consecutive points lead created a wide margin. In the second game, Bhagat was leading by 10 points and, the entire match ended in 26 minutes.

While praising Bhagat's performance, the Sports Authority of India wrote on Twitter, "#ParaBadminton Update @PramodBhagat83 through to Semifinal of Men's Singles SL3 after winning final group match against #UKR's Oleksandr Chyrkov 2-0 (21-12 21-9) He finished the group level with 2/2 win. Parmod Bhagat and 19-year-old Palak Kohli participated in mixed doubles group B in the opening match. They were competing in the SL3-SU5 category and lost to the French team by 9-21, 21-15, 19-21 in 43 minutes game. To classify for the SL3 category, athletes must meet the criteria of lower limb impairment and, for the SU5 category the athletes should meet the criteria of upper limb impairment.
