The forthcoming MacBook Air is said to be the first Apple laptop to use the next-gen M2 chip. As per leakster Dylan's claim, it is assumed to get launched in 2022. MacBook Air will have iMac-like colour schemes and the new MacBook Pros is expected to debut later this year and will use the M1X.

Dylann took to his Twitter profile to write, “Just wanted to share some details on when to expect the next-generation M2 (not the M1X which is reserved for the Pro Mac devices). This processor is on track to release in the first half of 2022 alongside the upcoming colourful Macbook (Air)”.

While the M1X will be carried by TSMC’s N5P process. A processed version of the 5 nm node, is being used in M1 at present. The chip may have a similar core structure as the M1- Firestorm and Icestorm. While Apple M2 will have lesser CPU cores contrary to the M1X.
