Google will soon notify you if the search results are unreliable. The search giant says users should get proper and authentic information from the engine. Therefore it will now issue a warning if Google can’t guarantee the reliability of the sources that are showing up in the search results.

In a blog post, Google stated that accessing timely, relevant and reliable information is more important in the present environment.  While Google Search will always be available with the most useful results, sometimes the information you are searching for isn’t online yet.

The tech giant states that this can be individually true for breaking news or emerging topics, when the information that’s published first may not be the most reliable. The blog further states that they have trained their systems to detect when a topic is rapidly evolving and a range of sources hasn’t yet weighed in. They will now show a notice indicating that it may be best to check back later when more information from a wider range of sources might be available.

Google will also display a message saying that if this topic is new, it can sometimes take time for results to be added by reliable sources. The company also mentioned that the number of irrelevant results appearing on a search results page has decreased by 40% over the past five years.
