Days after Google pulled down Paytm from Play store; the digital payment firm has now launched its mini app store extending its support to the Indian developers.

The firm has taken this big step to challenge Google Play store’s dominance in the space. It has invited Indian developers to distribute their mini app to reach 150 million monthly active users and at 0% payment charges for wallet and UPI. As per reports, the mini-apps will be web apps, which are actually websites that act like native apps.

Paytm on its website mentions that the mini app store will integrate open source technologies such as HTML and Javascript and give access to its active users on the app. This move will certainly turned out to be a boon for local businesses, as they don’t want to invest huge amounts on apps and give Google a 30% cut on the in-app purchases. Some of the apps which are already listed on the website are Dainik Bhaskar, 1MG, Digit, Decathlon and Netmeds.

In a statement Vijay Shekhar Sharma the founder and CEO of Paytm said that he is proud that they are today launching something that creates an opportunity for every Indian app developer. Paytm Mini App Store empowers the young Indian developers to leverage our reach and payments to build new innovative services. For Paytm users it will be a seamless experience that doesn’t require any separate download and enables them to use their preferred payment option.

The digital firm is going to host a ‘Paytm mini app developer conference’ on October 8, 2020.
