Telegram to launch its new feature group video calling in May

Telegram will also enable admins of groups and channels to schedule a voice chat for a particular date and time. This will give members of a group or channel a chance to catch up before they tune into a broadcast with other users.

The instant messaging app Telegram is set to launch its new video conferencing features in May. The development has come soon after the app rolled out its calling features on channels.

Telegram launched one-on-one encrypted video calls last year in August and now is geared up to roll out group video calls. Pavel Durov, CEO, Telegram stated in his channel that they will be adding a video dimension to their voice chats in May. Screen sharing, encryption, noise-cancelling, desktop and tablet support and everything the user expect from a modern video conferencing tool, but with Telegram-level UI, speed and encryption.

Reportedly, the application decided to launch a video conferencing tool in April last year and noted that video calls in 2020 are much like messaging in 2013. Some apps are either secure or usable, but not both and so they wanted to fix this issue. This statement came when video calling apps like Zoom were criticised for their security issues. However, later Zoom rolled out end-to-end encryption and two-factor authentication and other security tools for a magnified experience.

Telegram will also enable admins of groups and channels to schedule a voice chat for a particular date and time. This will give members of a group or channel a chance to catch up before they tune into a broadcast with other users.

In the meantime, Telegram recently introduced a payment 2.0 wherein traders can create bots to send invoices to consumers. Customers can later make payments by clicking on the pay button that comes with the invoice through credit cards, debit cards, or Google Pay.
