Ganesh Chaturthi has begun with a lot of enthusiasm one can see varieties of Lord Ganesha idols which leaves us mesmerising, especially the eco-friendly Ganpati idols. These idols are made up of different elements like clay, red soil, or maybe even chocolate. Talking about chocolate idols, Ludhiana-based restaurateur and chocolatier Harjinder Singh Kukreja unveiled an eco-friendly Ganesha idol made up of pure Belgian chocolate at his bakery-cum-chocolate store in Ludhiana's Saraba Nagar.

It is the sixth consecutive year for Harjinder Singh, making Ganesha idols of chocolate. This year the Ganesha idol is made from 200 kilos of chocolate which will be immersed in milk for 'visarjan' just like in previous years, and the milk is distributed among underprivileged children. Kukreja believes that Lord Ganesha chose them to come to life in the form of chocolate and for the past six years.

The restaurateur in 2016 used to hire a sculptor who used to work with the chefs for making the idol. However, this year the idol was crafted by a professional team of chefs. It took ten days for sculpting the Ganesha idol from 200 kilos of Belgian dark chocolate. The six-year-old tradition of eco-friendly Ganpati idol is the source of great joy for underprivileged children.
