Maharashtra government announces five-level unlock plan

Maharashtra government has announced a five-step unlock plan from Monday after taking a U-turn a day ago on easing the lockdown like restrictions. In a late-night order yesterday the state government came up with five levels based on weekly positivity rate and oxygen bed occupancies. The new guidelines come into effect from Monday ie June 7.

Unlock Level 1
All districts with less than a five per cent positivity rate and below 25 per cent oxygen bed occupancy will be allowed to unlock completely. All restaurants, malls, salons, gyms, movie theatres, shops can open in level 1. Marriages, gatherings, funerals and offices can too reopen with full capacity.

Unlock Level 2
In the second level the districts with less than five per cent positivity and oxygen beds occupancy of 25 to 40 per cent. Shops can reopen regularly, however, malls, restaurants, gyms, salons can open with partial relaxations. Marriages, gatherings, funerals are allowed with 50 per cent capacity. Offices can reopen with full capacity under level 2.

Unlock Level 3
Areas with a 5 to 10 per cent positivity rate and 40-60 per cent oxygen bed occupancy will be categorised under this level. Mumbai has been listed here.

Film shoots allowed to resume in the city. However, local trains will not be operational for only essential workers.

Unlock Level 4
Districts with a 10-20 per cent positivity rate and 60-75 per cent occupancy rate will come in level 4. These areas won't see many relaxations.

Unlock Level 5
No movement at all under Level 5. The areas having a positivity rate of more than 20 per cent and having oxygenated bed occupancy of more than 75 per cent. Only essential shops and other few facilities will be available. 

On Thursday, Maharashtra Relief and Rehabilitation minister Vijay Waddettiwar announced the unlock process in the state. During a press conference the minister stated that in Level 1,18 districts will witness unlock down. While five districts will see Level 2 of unlock down, there are 10 districts in Level 3 and two in Level 4. The rest will be in Level 5.
