THIS Independence Day, let's make equality the basic characteristic of human society

As they are called the 'daily wage workers,' opportunities don't knock on their doors. Society has stereotyped them and tagged them as a layman. Though we are an independent nation, our thinking is not that free where we consider every individual equal even after 75 years of Independence.

Independence day is an eternal thought for every citizen of India. On this day we as one nation recall all the sacrifices and valour of our freedom fighters. But that's not it, Independence day is also for those who are still fighting their battle every day. They are the ones who are still struggling to make a living.

This Independence Day, apart from saluting the martyrs and the Indian defence force, lets us come together to appreciate and pay our gratitude to the 'Kumhars' (people who practice pottery), 'Lohars' (blacksmith), 'Sutars' (Carpenters), 'Gawandis' (Mason), and 'Kisans' (Farmers). They are also the ones who play an essential role in our day-to-day life, but their hard work goes unnoticed.

As they are called the 'daily wage workers,' opportunities don't knock on their doors. Society has stereotyped them and tagged them as a layman. Though we are an independent nation, our thinking is not that free where we consider every individual equal even after 75 years of Independence.

So this Independence Day, let's end this taboo by stepping into an independent era where they get equal opportunity and respect for their contribution to the nation.
