Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting the parliament of Varanasi on 15th July 2020 to inaugurate the International Cooperation and Convention Centre 'Rudraksh'. The convention centre has a seating capacity of 1,200. It is built with the assistance of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The convention centre is constructed in the Sigra area of Varanasi over three acres of land. The costing to make 'Rudraksh' was nearly Rs 200 crore. The centre is positioned as an ideal location to host all types of international conventions, concerts, and exhibitions to strengthen the city's competitiveness by developing its tourism sector. It contains the main hall with a tower, meeting rooms, and a spacious parking area that can accommodate 120 cars.

The foundation stone for the convention centre was laid in 2015 when Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visited Varanasi. The building roof is constructed to resemble the Shiva Linga. The entire building will glow at night as it has LED lights. The gallery showcases the distinct culture and heritage of Varanasi with murals depicting the art and music. The main hall can be partitioned into smaller spaces for an event if required.
