Yuvraj Singh, Herschelle Gibbs react after Kieron Pollard hits six sixes in an over

The West Indies all-rounder hit boundary six times in Dananjaya over to race to 38 off 10 before getting out LBW for 38. His innings scored the most runs in the Powerplay, which was 98.

West Indies cricketer Kieron Pollard has become the third cricketer in international cricket to hit six sixes in an over after Herschelle Gibbs and Yuvraj Singh. 

After the Sri Lankan spinner, Akila Dananjaya took a hat-trick to shake West Indies' chase during the first T20. However, Pollard knocked 36 runs off his next over and shattered Dananjaya's joy.


As soon as Pollard hammered the sixes, Yuvraj Singh and Herschelle Gibbs lauded the batsman. The two former cricketers took to Twitter and congratulated Pollard for the achievement. 

Gibbs who had hit six sixes in an over in an ODI against the Netherlands during the 2007 World Cup, tweeted, "March a popular month for hitting 6x6s. 16/3/2007 and 3/3/2021 congrats @KieronPollard55."

On the other hand, Yuvraj who had knocked off England pacer Stuart Broad during the T20 World Cup in 2007, mentioned, "Welcome to the club, @KieronPollard55 #sixsixes you beauty!!!," Yuvraj, who played with Pollard for Mumbai Indians in 2018."

After the match, talking about the game, Pollard averred that he felt he could hit six sixes after the third one. He did it in the Super 50 as well. He just backed himself. Once he had five sixes he knew he had the bowler on the back foot who was going around the wicket and it was difficult for the bowler. Pollard just told himself, 'go for it'.
